Along with visitors’ favorite displays, there are some new features to the light show this year.
“Tom Fruin, who is a New York artist, built beautiful, what looks like stained glasshouses in the Rose Garden, but they’re actually made out of recycled materials and you can walk through several of them,” said Jennifer Errico, Public Relations and Marketing Manager at Descanso Gardens Guild, Inc.
There are also new installations on the Main Lawn by Los Angeles artist HYBYCOZO. The interactive art pieces shine, twirl, and cast beautiful shadows over large areas.
Many of the attractions are interactive and are terrific for children of all ages. It is a one-mile walk over some uneven terrain so comfortable shoes are advised.
It may also be a good idea to bring a jacket since temperatures at the gardens can dip into the 40s at night during the winter months.
Descanso Gardens is following Los Angeles County COVID-19 protocols — face masks must be worn in some areas, such as the gift shop which is indoors.
