What is it about chips that makes them so addictive? Is it the crunchiness? The saltiness? Either way, we love chips but don’t love all the fat and calories. To make this year’s Super Bowl a little more healthful, we decided to look into nutritious chips without sacrificing flavor. We concocted 5 different chips (for our 5 delicious dips!), and trust us, they’re all amazing. And for those who still want a little bit of indulgence, we threw in a devilish treat as well — Bacon Chips! After all, no Super Bowl would be complete without bacon. Enjoy.
1. Beet Chips: Beets are so packed with flavor that you only need two ingredients to make ’em!
Ingredients:
– 3 small beets
– 2 tb olive oil
First, peel the beets. Then, using a mandolin or a knife, slice the beets thinly into small rounds. Place the rounds on a cooking sheet or silpat, and brush lightly with olive oil. Cover each the beets with foil, and place another cookie sheet on top. This prevents the chips from curling into themselves. Bake in the oven at 375 degrees F for about 10 minutes, or until the edges are curling slightly. Then, remove the cookie sheet that’s flattening them and bake for another 20 minutes, or until it’s crispy.
If you take them out of the oven and they don’t seem crispy, let it sit for a minute two to dry. Then, you’ve got crispy, crunchy, beet chips. Yum.
2. Crunchy Kale Chips: This might just replace our normal chips because they’re so ridiculously crunchy, you won’t believe it’s actually a healthy vegetable!
Ingredients:
– 5 oz (1/2 bag) prewashed and cut kale
– 2 tb olive oil
– salt to taste
In a large mixing bowl, drizzle olive oil over the kale. Toss it gently to ensure all kale is covered with oil. Then, sprinkle salt over kale. Lay it out on a baking tray, making sure none overlap, and bake at 275 degrees F for about twenty minutes until crispy. Easy peasy!
This has quickly become our daily afternoon snack here at Brit HQ. It’s that tasty.
3. Sweet Potato Chips: Who doesn’t love sweet potatoes? These baked chips are also a great alternative to sweet potato fries.
Ingredients:
– 1 large sweet potato
– 2 tb olive oil
– salt to taste
Scrub the sweet potato and slice into thin disks with either a knife or mandoline. In a large bowl, toss with olive oil and salt until all sweet potato slices are coated. As usual, lay the chips out on a baking sheet and bake in the oven at 400 degrees F for about 20-25 minutes, or until brown.
So yummy!
4. Sweet Apple Chips: Apple chips are a great way to keep the doctor away.
Ingredients:
– 1 cup water
– 1/2 cup granulated sugar
– 1 apple (honeycrisp works really well)
First, bring the water and sugar to a gentle boil. Remove from heat to let cool to room temperature. Meanwhile, slice the apple thinly with either a knife or a mandolin. Then, submerge the apple slices into the water-sugar mixture for about an hour, or until they’re translucent. Remove the chips from the mixture and lay out on a rack or silpat. Bake in the oven at 225 degrees F for about an hour, or until the edges are curled.
You’ll never need to step foot in Casa de Fruita again after making these mouthwatering apple chips.
5. Caramelized Bacon Chips: And as promised, Bacon Chips! These are slightly sweet, salty, and just plain awesome.
Ingredients:
– 6 slices of bacon (or half a pack)
– 1 cup brown sugar
– cayenne pepper (for garnish)
First, cut the bacon into 4 pieces per strip, or however big you want your chips to be. Put the sugar in a bowl, and dredge the bacon in the sugar. Lay the bacon out on a baking sheet or silpat and sprinkle tops with cayenne pepper. Bake in the oven at 375 degrees F for 15 minutes, or until brown.
You’ll definitely need a napkin for these deliciously greasy bacon chips ;)

Miley Cyrus is an absolute powerhouse, and she has an incredible family behind her who have supported her along her journey to become the woman she is today! While Miley, Billy, and Noah are probably the most recognizable Cyrus family members, Miley has a number of other siblings who prove that talent really does run in her family. If you've been curious about who makes up Miley Cyrus' sibling support system, here's the full 4-1-1!
Who are Miley Cyrus real siblings?
Image via Trace Cyrus/Instagram
Miley Cyrus has a total of five siblings! Braison and Noah are the children of Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus, making them Miley's full siblings. Brandi and Trace are Tish's children from her first marriage with Baxter Neal Helson. Billy Ray also has a son named Christopher from a previous relationship with a woman named Kristin Luckey.
Are Miley and Noah half sisters?

Because of how beautifully blended the Cyrus family is, there has been confusion surrounding how Miley and Noah are related. Miley and Noah are full siblings are not half sisters, contrary to popular belief! Miley is seven years older than Noah, and the two seem to be very close.

Brandi Cyrus, 36
Brandi Cyrus was born on May 26, 1987, and was adopted by Billy Ray in December 1993. Brandi is also in the entertainment industry, though in a completely different way than Miley. She previously co-hosted a show on Bravo called Cyrus vs. Cyrus: Design andConquer. Now she co-hosts two podcasts called Your Favorite Thing and Sorry We’re Stoned.
Like Miley and Noah, Brandi and Noah seem to have a very close-knit relationship! Brandi has joined her sister at multiple awards shows and is never shy about gushing about her younger sister's undeniable talent.

Trace Cyrus, 34
Trace Cyrus was born on February 24, 1989, and was also adopted by Billy Ray Cyrus after he married Trish Cyrus. Trace is also a musical icon and is the lead singer of the popular band, Metro Station. A fun — and often-forgotten — fact is that Trace was previously engaged to Brenda Song! He was also with musician Taylor Lauren Sanders, and he's publicly credited Miley for helping him get through that difficult breakup.
Christopher Cyrus, 31
Christopher Cyrus was born on April 8, 1992 to Kristin Luckey. Though the rest of his siblings remain in the spotlight, Christopher chooses to live a more low-key life. There is little known about what he is up to, and he's not currently publicly active on social media.

Braison Cyrus, 29
Braison Cyrus was born on May 9, 1994, in Nashville and shares the musical abilities that much of his family boasts. He has performed his music and showed off his talent on shows like The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. He got married to Stella McBride Cyrus in November 2019, and the sweet couple welcomed their first baby on June 8, 2021. Their adorable little boy is named Bear Chance Cyrus!
Earlier this month Braison announced his Nashville residency at the Hillsboro Village, proving that he's still carrying on the family's musical legacy.

Noah Cyrus, 24
Noah Cyrus was born on January 8, 2000, and began her life in the spotlight at the early age of 2 through her appearance on her dad's show. She was also featured on Hannah Montana a few times! Nowadays, she doesn't seem to be pursuing acting anymore, preferring music instead.
Noah is incredibly talented like her older siblings and even earned a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist in 2001. Miley has been very vocal about her pride for her little sister and how she's who she looks up to. Noah has also been open about how it wasn't easy growing up as Miley's sister because she was constantly being compared to her.
Now, Noah seems to have happily established herself and her talent in her own right and she is engaged to a fashion designer named Pinkus.
Is Miley Cyrus related to Dolly Parton?
Photo by Emma McIntyre/Getty Images for The Recording Academy
If you've ever watched Hannah Montana, you've seen firsthand that Miley Cyrus and Dolly Parton have undeniable chemistry. Dolly gives off "cool aunt" vibes, and the two are often seen performing together! This has led to speculation that Miley and Dolly are actually related. This is not the case, but these strong and talented women do have a special bond, and Dolly is Miley's godmother!

There are some rom-coms you can never watch too many times. For me, it's Set It Up and 13 Going on 30. There is just something about the magic of watching two friends fall in love that restores my faith in humanity every time I press play. Plus, it doesn't hurt that both of those movies revolve around female writers in New York City. It's like I'm watching a different version of my life play out onscreen!
In honor of a friend's 30th birthday, I just rewatched the 13 Going on 30 movie, and in addition to my usual kicking-my-feet-and-screaming reaction the whole time, I noticed a detail about the end I'd never seen before — and it makes the whole movie so much more impactful.
What happens at the end of 13 Going on 30?
Image via Columbia Pictures/Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group
After Jenna returns from her time jump (which I'm firmly convinced is a dream), reconnects with Matty, and bravely confronts Tom-Tom and the Six Chicks, we see one of my favorite rom-com endings ever. Jenna and Matt (played by Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo) tie the knot and settle into a charming pink house before sharing a packet of razzles. However, one detail about the whole scene means I'll never watch 13 Going on 30 the same way again: the house they move into as a married couple mirrors the dream house Matty thoughtfully created for Jenna's 13th birthday party.
The fact their real house looks exactly like the dream house is much more than a fun design detail. This connection between their past life and their present life carries profound emotional implications because it reflects Matty's unwavering devotion to Jenna's dreams.
Do Matt and Jenna end up together in 13 Going on 30?
Image via Columbia Pictures/Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group
We see right from the beginning of the movie that there's always been a bond between Matty and Jenna. They have inside jokes, and even though they both have opposite reactions to middle school popularity, they know they can count on each other. And the dream house is the one object that represents both how well Matt knows Jenna and how much he genuinely cares about what she cares about.
His willingness to create the dream house in the first place highlights his attentiveness and kindness, especially since it's filled with so many things she loves. Matt's entire arc — from making the dream house to splitting a pack of Razzles at the park because Jenna loves them — shows that he loves with his actions. After he warms up to the idea that Jenna's in his life again, he loves her with open arms, and it takes Jenna learning he's engaged to someone else to realize she loves him back.
What is the lesson of 13 Going on 30?
Image via Columbia Pictures/Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group
Jenna finally accepting Matt and his pink house after throwing him out of her birthday party as kids highlights her own growth as a character. After an entire movie where Jenna moves through her supposed dream life, the 13 Going on 30 movie ending highlights that her true dream life is one spent with the person she loves — not one that gives her a glitzy lifestyle at the expense of all her relationships.
The end of the movie isn't about giving up an independent lifestyle or swapping the excitement of New York City for the suburbs. It's more that Jenna did get everything she ever wanted — the job, the money, the fashion — but she was doing it all alone. She got to the top, and it didn't make her happy. To me, the true lesson in 13 Going on 30 is that relationships in all their forms are so much more meaningful than whatever material things we could accumulate.
Where can I watch 13 Going on 30?
Image via Columbia Pictures/Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group
13 Going on 30 is streaming on Netflix right now. You can also watch a 13 Going on 30 cast reunion in The Adam Project, which brings Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo back together!
Why did Mark Ruffalo almost quit 13 Going on 30?
Image via Columbia Pictures/Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group
Mark Ruffalo is literally such a perfect Matt that I can't believe he almost backed out of 13 Going On 30 altogether! Because of his initial hesitation to dance in the Halloween party's "Thriller" scene, Jennifer Garner had to convince him to stay in the movie.
"The dancing was horrible. I almost didn't want to do this movie," he says in an interview. "I literally read it and I'm like 'I can't do this movie. I can't get up and do those scenes'...When [Jennifer Garner] dragged me out (onto the dance floor) she was literally dragging me out and I had hours of rehearsal with a dance coach who taught me how to do all the moves and stuff and still, when we got into actually shooting it and there were 300 extras around, I did not want to do that scene."
But Mark Ruffalo's nerves (and his self-perceived lack of dancing skills) definitely go unnoticed onscreen. And the fact that Mark can seamlessly capturing the essence of stepping out of your comfort zone for love shows just how perfect he is for the role — and makes me love him even more.
What do you think about the 13 Going on 30 ending? Do you think Jenna's time jump was real, or a dream? Let us know all your thoughts in the comments, and check out 5 Details From The Summer I Turned Pretty Ending That Reveal Who Belly Ends Up With In Season 3!

There’s nothing like a modern soap opera from the 2000’s. and The O.C.still tugs on people’s heart strings like any post 90’s teenage drama series — just look at One Tree Hillor Gossip Girl. While the show was only 4 seasons, it continues to garner some loyal fans thanks to online streaming services.
After Mischa Barton recently revealed her off-screen romance with co-star and on-screen love interest Ben McKenzie on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, we can’t help but wonder where the rest of the cast is now. Get ready to step back into California as we update you on what the stars are up to IRL.
Mischa Barton — Marissa Cooper
Spoiler Alert: Everyone remembers (and is traumatized by) the tragic death of Misha Barton’s character, Marissa Cooper, during the season three finale. Since then, Barton has appeared on Season 22 of Dancing with Stars and starred in the reboot of iconic soap Neighbours for a 10-week guest stint in Australia in 2023.
The actress’s recent guest appearance on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast has her revisiting life The O.C., speaking on her mental health and familial issues both during and after filming. One of the biggest takeaways? Barton dated co-star Ben McKenzie IRL during the show — and if you're wondering about their age gap, he was 25 and she was 17... Needless to say, her abrupt exit from the show makes a lot more sense through the lens of that breakup.
Per Daily Mail, Barton is last linked to boyfriend Gian Marco Flamini, although it’s unclear whether they are still in a relationship.
Ben McKenzie — Ryan Atwood
Ben McKenzie (known for his character Ryan Atwood) is now an author and actor. After The O.C., McKenzie took on some notable roles in Johnny Got His Gun, Southland, and landed his first voice acting role in Batman: Year One. He then returned to the Batman world in Gotham on Fox from 2014 until 2019.
He then made his broadway debut with Second Stage Theater in 2020 for Bess Wohl’s Grand Horizons. McKenzie is married to actress Morena Baccarin and has two children.
Adam Brody — Seth Cohen
Adam Brody, who played Seth Cohen on the show and is known for his appearance on Gilmore Girls, is currently married to Leighton Meester (AKA the queen Blair Waldorf in Gossip Girl) with two kids. Brody had a public relationship with co-star Rachel Bilson but split while still filming the show in 2006. Since the series ended, he’s acted on projects such as River Wild, The Kid Detective, American Fiction, and more.
Rachel Bilson — Summer Roberts
Photo by Jason Kempin/Getty Images for SCAD
Rachel Bilson is reminiscing on her time as her character, Summer Roberts, in a rewatch podcast with Melinda Clarke. Although her that podcast wrapped in 2023, Bilson continued the comedy podcast “Broad Ideas with Rachel Bilson & Olivia Allen). The actress starred in the Hart of Dixie until 2017 and Take Two in 2018. She has one child, Briar Rose, with former beau and Canadian actor, Hayden Christensen. She sparked dating rumors with actor and musician Garrett Hedlund, per Extra TV.
Peter Gallagher — Sandy Cohen
Peter Gallagher, who played Adam Brody’s father in the show, was a longtime actor before landing his gig as Sandy Cohen. The While You Were Sleeping actor has made recent appearances in Grey’s Anatomy as Dr. David Hamilton and Grace and Frankie as Nick Skolka. He has been married to Paula Harwood since 1983 and has 2 children.
Kelly Rowan — Kirsten Cohen
Photo by Alberto E. Rodriguez/Getty Images
Actress Kelly Rowan played Sandy Cohen's wife and Seth Cohen's mom during her time on the show. After The O.C., Rowan starred in a handful of films and television shows, but she hasn't acted much recently — her last project was a movie called Tulips In Spring in 2016. She was previously engaged to David Thomson (who she shares a 16 year old daughter with), but according to Hello! they broke it off before the wedding bells rang.
Melinda Clarke — Julie Cooper
Photo by Joshua Blanchard/Getty Images for Original Penguin
Melinda Clarke, known for playing Marissa Cooper's mother, made a brief return to The O.C. world with Rachel Bilson on their rewatch podcast which ended in 2023. From 1997 to 2005, Clarke was married to Ernie Mirich, and they share one child together. She's been with her current husband, Adam Farmer, since 2015. Clarke still acts, with titles like Fantasy Island, The Vampire Diaries, and Entourage under her belt since her stint on The O.C.
Tate Donovan — Jimmy Cooper
The other half of Marissa Cooper's parents, Tate Donavan just played Stanley Clotfelter in the award-winning film The Holdovers. Donovan is no stranger to the screen either, working on projects like Ghosted, Rocketman, and Argo. One of my fave works of Donavan's has to be his voice acting as Hercules in the Disneyclassic of the same name — truly iconic! Donovan was married to Corinne Kingsbury from 2005 to 2008, and hasn't remarried since.
