Elden Ring’s best Wondrous Physick mixes, and where to find the best Crystal Tears (2024)

Elden Ring gives players not one, but three flasks to sip from in order to restore their health (HP) and focus (FP), and — in the case of the Wondrous Physick — to empower themselves in sometimes unique ways. The Flask of Wondrous Physick can be found early in Elden Ring, and you’ll find it very helpful in overcoming many of the game’s most challenging boss battles. The temporary boosts it provides aren’t overwhelming, but can give you that extra edge you need to survive.

The Flask of Wondrous Physick can be found in the northeastern region of Limgrave, at the Third Church of Marika, meaning that it can be acquired well before you start tackling early-game challenges like Margit, The Fell Omen and Godrick the Grafted.

The contents of Flask of Wondrous Physick can be mixed with a variety of Crystal Tears to your liking; you’ll find Crystal Tears throughout the Lands Between, mainly by defeating Erdtree Avatars, which can be found nearby Minor Erdtrees and in stone bowls. When you acquire the flask at the Third Church of Marika, it will come with the Crimson Crystal Tear, a tear that will restore half your health upon drinking from the Flask of Wondrous Physick.

To mix your Flask of Wondrous Physick, you’ll do so at a site of grace. Up to two crystal tears can be mixed together, and you’ll get one use of the Flask of Wondrous Physick per rest.

While the Crimson Crystal Tear’s health-restoring benefit can come in handy, there are much better, much more powerful tears found throughout the game. Here are some helpful Wondrous Physick mixes, the best Crystal Tears, and where to find them in Elden Ring’s massive map.

Opaline Bubble Tear

“Significantly negates damage in mixed physick”

The Opaline Bubble Tear is designed for surviving tough boss fights. It will form a protective bubble around your character, basically giving you near-invulnerability for one hit. If you’re having trouble, say, surviving a boss fight where a giant meteor slams down on you, drink that Flask of Wondrous Physick with an Opaline Bubble Tear for a chance at survival.

The Opaline Bubble Tear can be found in the Weeping Peninsula, beneath the Minor Erdtree, after defeating the Erdtree Avatar.

Cerulean Hidden Tear

“Eliminates all FP consumption in mixed physick”

Ideal for heavy magic users, the Cerulean Hidden Tear effectively gives you a 15-second unlimited pool of FP. If you want to spam magic attacks in short bursts, or shoot a boss-killing stream of pure magic, use the Cerulean Hidden Tear in your Wondrous Physick mix.

Cerulean Hidden Tear can be found in Mt. Gelmir at the Minor Erdtree, after defeating the Ulcerated Tree Spirit. The closest Site of Grace is the Road of Iniquity.

Pairs well with Magic-Shrouding Cracked Tear (temporarily boosts magic attacks) and the Opaline Bubble Tear (basically a free, one-hit shield).

Crimson Bubble Tear

“Restores HP when near death in mixed physick.”

If you find yourself [pinches fingers] this close to winning a challenging boss fight or need a little extra health insurance, the Crimson Bubble Tear can save you from death in certain circ*mstances. It won’t make you invincible by any means, but its chance to heal 30% of your total HP might just turn the tide.

Crimson Bubble Tear can be found in the Mountaintops of the Giants, after defeating the Erdtree Avatar guarding the Minor Erdtree in the east section of the area. In other words, this Crystal Tear is found pretty late in the game.

Pairs well with the Speckled Hardtear (temporarily boosts resistance and heals) and Leaden Hardtear (temporarily boosts poise).

Greenburst Crystal Tear

“Temporarily boosts stamina recovery speed in mixed physick.”

If you’re like me, a melee player, you want the maximum amount of stamina and stamina recovery you can get your hands on. The Greenburst Crystal Tear, which can be paired with other stamina-boosting items, can be crucial in moments where you’re savagely whaling on a boss in an attempt to build up bleed or break their poise. It’s also helpful for shield users who need to quickly recover from blocked attacks.

The Greenburst Crystal Tear can be found in Caelid, after defeating the Erdtree Avatar to the east of the Smoldering Church.

Pairs well with the Thorny Cracked Tear, Stonebarb Cracked Tear, and Greenspill Crystal Tear (temporarily boosts overall stamina).

Thorny Cracked Tear

“Makes consecutive attacks grow stronger in mixed physick.”

For melee users who want to quickly stack damage, the Thorny Cracked Tear is a great way to maximize your weapon’s power, especially if it’s a fast-paced weapon like a dagger, epee, katana, or ax.

The Thorny Cracked Tear can be found in the Consecrated Snowfield, after defeating the Putrid Avatar, east of Ordina, Liturgical Town. In other words, this Crystal Tear is found pretty late in the game.

Situational Crystal Tears

To complement your specific character build, you may want to add one of the following Crystal Tears to your Flask of Wondrous Physick mix:

  • Strength-Knot Crystal Tear. Temporarily boosts strength in mixed physick, offering a boost to weapons that scale with STR and the standard benefits of increasing strength. Found in Stormhill, northeast of Stormhill Shack or northwest of Warmaster’s Shack.
  • Dexterity-Knot Crystal Tear. Temporarily boosts dexterity in mixed physick, offering a boost to weapons that scale with DEX and the standard benefits of increasing dexterity. Found in Lurnia of the Lakes, southwest of Boilprawn Shack.
  • Intelligence-Knot Crystal Tear. Temporarily boosts intelligence in mixed physick, offering a boost to weapons that scale with INT and the standard benefits of increasing intelligence. Found northeast of the Road to the Manor Site of Grace.
  • Faith-Knot Crystal Tear. Temporarily boosts faith in mixed physick, offering a boost to weapons that scale with FAI and the standard benefits of increasing faith. Found in the Weeping Peninsula, north of the Demi-Human Forest Ruins, southeast of the Church of Pilgrimage.
